DEAN Bouzanis's dreams of European glory with Greece were dashed after a 3-0 defeat by England at the Under 19 Championships.
The Liverpool youngster was on the bench for the third match in a row as the Greeks went into their last group match looking for their first win of the tournament.
Instead it was England who earned the points, courtesy of goals from Ben Mee, a Freddie Sears penalty and Daniel Sturridge.
England's victory was not enough to secure a place in the semi-finals though, that went to the Czech Republic, despite a 4-3 defeat at the hands of group-winners Italy.
Bouzanis and his Greek colleagues ended in bottom spot with two points from their three matches.
Despite his involvement in the tournament, Bouzanis is still eligible to play for Australia should the call come.
