The Blues missed the chance to leapfrog leaders Liverpool when they again failed to collect maximum points in front of their own fans after West Ham, coached by former Chelsea favourite Gianfranco Zola, battled to a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Despite their superb 100% away form which has yielded eight straight victories, Luiz Felipe Scolari's men have managed only three league wins at home - losing to title rivals Liverpool and Arsenal, while defending champions Manchester United took a point there earlier this season.

It is a much-changed scenario now for Chelsea when visiting teams come to Stamford Bridge, which became a fortress during an amazing 86-match unbeaten league run.

However, Scolari is focused on finding an answer to the Stamford Bridge conundrum ahead of the visit of bottom club West Brom on Boxing Day, as he looks to change a system which now appears too easily cancelled out by stubborn opposition.

Portuguese midfielder Deco is convinced the squad will soon put the issue right.

"We have lost many points at home and we will have to try to play better here," he said.

"It just has to work - we want to play like we do away and we are trying.

"We have more weeks to be training, and we are progressing. In the future I think we will do better."

Chelsea's next Premier League game is a trip to Everton for the televised Monday night clash, and they must travel to west London rivals Fulham on December 28 ahead of their FA Cup third-round tie with Coca-Cola League One outfit Southend.
