Carlo Ancelotti is a "perfect fit" for Real Madrid, according to Spain manager Vicente del Bosque.
The Italian left Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain to succeed former Real boss Jose Mourinho, who departed the Bernabeu to return to former club Chelsea.
Del Bosque, who guided Real to two La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles, is confident Ancelotti possesses the necessary traits to be a success for the Spanish capital.
"Ancelotti is a man who has achieved great success," Del Bosque is quoted as saying by Europa Press.
"(He) knows European football well and fits perfectly into what is required to be coach of Real Madrid.
"He's an excellent technician, has a great squad and hopefully that (contributes) to a good season for Spanish football."
Ancelotti has had a stalwart managerial career that has seen him win league titles in Italy, England and France as well as truimph twice in the UEFA Champions League with Milan, a competition he also won twice with the club as a player.
