The Italian superstar was handed the number 10 shirt for the upcoming season and briefly spoke at the event, revealing he's no certainty for the club's Round One fixture with Wellington on October 6.
"Now is very soon to say. It's not easy, for sure," said Del Piero, who arrived in the country from Italy last Sunday and is still acclimatising to Australia.
"It's a long way from Italy, but I have found the right place."
Del Piero also reiterated his desire to win the title with his new club.
"My first week was perfect. These are very nice people. I hope with you to win the title," he said.
It has also been speculated Del Piero could play a part in Sydney's final pre-season game against Centrla Coast in midweek, although the game will be played behind closed doors.
Meanwhile, Destination NSW and Sydney FC have joined forces to help attract tourists to Sydney with the Sky Blues proudly wearing the sydney.com logo on the back of its home and away strip for the 2012/13 A-League.
The sponsorship deal will help promote tourism through Destination NSW and sydney.com across key Asian markets and a global audience now focussed on Sydney FC since the arrival of Alessandro Del Piero.
Sydney FC CEO Tony Pignata said: “We are delighted to welcome Destination NSW as a Sydney FC sponsor with the sydney.com logo to be displayed on the back of the Sydney FC shirt.
“We are proud to be able to help attract visitors to Sydney and we believe that with the Sydney FC brand and the arrival of Alessandro Del Piero we will be able to work together with Destination NSW to achieve that goal.”
The announcement was made by Sandra Chipchase, CEO Destination NSW as the Sydney FC players were presented with their 2012/13 strip at Allianz Stadium.
“The huge interest being shown by all major sports broadcasters, Italian TV and football fans around the world following Sydney FC’s signing of Alessandro Del Piero means the sydney.com brand has even more access to an instant global audience,” Ms Chipchase said.
“Having signed Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero for the next two seasons makes Sydney FC one of the hottest brands in town.
“He has more than 3.2 million Facebook fans, 327,000 followers on Twitter and has scored more than 750,000 views on his own YouTube site. Add these to the millions of television viewers throughout Europe, Australia and Asia who will watch him play, and we have achieved a phenomenal promotional opportunity to grow traffic to Australia’s premier online destination and events website.”
