The result leaves Glory two points clear of Sydney FC at the summit of the A-League ladder after another solid display.

“We have to be happy," Perth coach Popovic said post-match.

"Coming here (Coopers Stadium) is not easy. They’ve had a fantastic week, winning the FFA Cup, and backed it up with a great performance at the Central Coast.

“But I think from the outset we were well and truly in the game. We had some good opportunities and I think overall we got the result we deserved.”

The former Western Sydney Wanderers manager was delighted with the way his team started the game.

“We had a game plan that we tried to impose ourselves, it’s not always easy or possible to do - today it worked out," he said.

"We were always a little concerned on the sideline about not taking our chances because we know how good Adelaide are.

“The form that they’re in - you know at any moment they could get a goal or create an opportunity. So you’re always sitting there happy with the performance, pleased with how well the team’s playing, but a little nervous knowing that your opponent is so dangerous.

“So I’m delighted for the group that we got just reward for our outstanding performance away from home and we can keep our first clean sheet, which is against a very good opponent, so it’s a real positive for us.”

However, Popovic was not ready to get carried away with his team’s impressive start, refusing to rule anyone out of the title race just yet.

“I think everyone would like to have a good start but I wouldn’t say now that anyone who is at the bottom of the table is out of the picture to win the title," he added.

"I wouldn’t say just because we’re on top that we are now assured of being there at the end.

“There is a lot of work to do. Yes, we’re happy where we are right now but there is a lot of work to do and a lot of things can change quickly, so we’ll have the week off and then we’ve really got to come out hard in our next home game and want more of the same.”
