Atletico Madrid have confirmed the signing of Martin Demichelis from Malaga on a one-year contract.
The Argentinian was available on a free transfer following the expiry of his deal at La Rosaleda, and has opted to join up with Diego Simeone's side for the 2013-14 campaign.
Demichelis made 83 appearances in total during his two and a half years with Malaga, and helped them to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League last term.
His spell in Spain began following a trophy-laden stay with Bayern Munich, where he lifted four Bundesliga titles and finished as a runner-up in the Champions League.
The Argentina international will now hope to help Atletico Madrid improve on their third-place finish in La Liga last term.
Simeone's men famously also won the Copa del Rey in 2012-13, beating city rivals Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the final.
