The last two years have been big for Deng, returning from Dutch Eredivise side PSV Eindhoven’s youth team, Jong PSV, after playing five games.

The 21-year-old ended up being a vital addition to the squad after the departure of defenders Nick Ansell, Alan Baro and Daniel Georgievski.

Deng featured in 24 games this season and admitted he hadn’t won too many titles at any level of the game.

“We didn’t have the best start to the season, I think we picked it up towards the end and now you can see we won the championship, so victory is sweet,” Deng told FourFourTwo.

“I haven’t won too many titles, this is probably my first major one.

“You have to expect to win, that’s why we play, so I’m happy I won a championship in my second year at Victory and hopefully there are many more to come.”

Deng also praised the Victory fans for turning it up at McDonald Jones Stadium last week.

“Riding on the bus to the stadium, you can see the fans walking to the stadium and the atmosphere was crazy during the game,” he said.

“It was loud and I’m glad we did it for them.

“The celebrations were alright, we celebrated with the fans, staff, coaches and players, so it was a good night.”
