Denmark managed to hold off a second-half surge from Peru to claim a slender 1-0 win and join France at the top of Group C.
Pione Sisto- 6
Worked well in and around the defence to create space and was key for Denmark’s counter attacks but was let down by his final touch and lofted through balls that failed to find their targets.
Nicolai Jorgensen – 6.5
Very committed up front, applying pressure until the very end but was outpaced by a Peruvian defence.
Yussuf Poulsen - 8
A standout for Denmark. Poulsen may have conceded a penalty but made up for it by pushing forwards with constant breaks down the right-hand side. He was rewarded for his efforts with the only goal of the match.
Thomas Delaney - 8
Was everywhere he needed to be in the centre of the park, sending Eriksen forward and cutting off Peru’s attempts to progress through the centre.
Jens Stryger Larsen- 6.5
Used his pace to great effect and remained calm under sustained pressure.
Subs
Lasse Schone - 6
Kvist’s replacement, played a deeper midfield role and showed some promising skill on the ball.
Martin Braithwaite - 6
Added some energy to the field, showcasing some good aerial defence.
Mathias Jorgensen- 5
Came on for 10 minutes at the end to provide a fresh set of legs to a tiring defence.
