A last-gasp goal from Alberto Lopo looks to have secured Deportivo La Coruna's Primera Liga status - but leaves Osasuna looking over their shoulders at the bottom of the table.
Depor struggled to create chances all afternoon against Osasuna in tense encounter, but came up with the goods when it mattered as Lopo headed home a minute into injury time to snatch all three points.
That moves Depor on to 42 with seven games remaining, while Osasuna are left on 36 points, only six points above the drop zone.
Depor came into the game on the back of a 3-0 loss to Sevilla in the Copa del Rey, and looked to still be feeling the effects as Osasuna got off to the brighter start, having their first effort on goal inside two minutes.
After Lopo fouled Pierre Webo, David Lopez Moreno whipped in a free-kick from which Carlos Cuellar sent a powerful header narrowly wide.
The next chance would also fall to the visitors, with Jose Izquierdo sending a drilled shot straight at goalkeeper Dudu Aouate from 25 yards.
In the 23rd minute, Raul Garcia Escudero hit a shot from 30 yards, but it was easy enough for Aouate to deal with.
The visitors were dominating, not allowing Depor a chance of their own.
In the 32nd minute, Raul Garcia sent a 25-yard shot just wide before Nacho Monreal's free-kick went just over the crossbar.
In the final minute before the break, Webo saw his drilled header go just over from Moreno's cross, and Raul Garcia saw yet another shot go just wide before the half-time whistle went without Depor having had a shot.
That did not immediately change as the second half got underway with Osasuna once again on the attack.
Raul Garcia was on target with his shot this time, but could not beat Aouate, who pushed the ball around the post for a corner.
In the 57th minute, Depor finally gave Osasuna goalkeeper Ricardo Lopez something to do, but Sebastian Taborda's drilled shot from 20 yards did not trouble the custodian too much.
Moments later Taborda had another chance but sent a powerful header wide of the target.
Having taken so long to begin creating chances, they now began to come in floods for Depor.
Joan Verdu sent a shot just wide from the edge of the area before Ivan Riki was also off target with an effort from 20 yards.
Taborda then got up to send a powerful header just wide from close range as Depor failed to make Lopez work.
With the clock winding down, Depor finally gave the Osasuna goalkeeper something to do in the 88th minute as he was called on to make a save from Francisco Punal's free-kick, awarded after Taborda brought down Valmiro Valdo.
Moments later, Javier Arizmendi had another chance but sent his header wide of the target from 10 yards.
Then, just as it seemed that the only chance of a goal had gone, Depor snatched all three points a minute into injury time.
Izquierdo brought down Riki just outside the area, and Filipe Kasmirski floated a cross in which Taborda flicked on for Lopo to head home from the left-side of the penalty area.
