Memberships are currently tracking at 3,800 – a figure believed to be well short of the club’s season one target.
Publicly allocated tickets have sold out for the first match between Wanderers and Sydney FC at Parramatta Stadium on Saturday night but there is still availability for those who purchase memberships to attend the derby and the Wanderers remaining home matches.
A club spokesperson declined to reveal the membership target, saying it did not give a fair indication of “where we’re at”.
He said the club, which was only launched six months ago, was “very pleased” with the level of support and the enthusiasm of fans.
There was no discernible membership boost from the signing of marquee Shinji Ono but it was early days, he said.
The club continues to receive interest from Japanese groups keen to travel to Australia to watch the legendary Blue Samurai in action. A series of profiles on Ono’s A-League switch is also due to hit Japanese newsstands.
Wanderers played their first home game in round one against Central Coast Mariners in front of a 10,500-strong crowd.
