Parma have sacked their coach Domenico Di Carlo after a string of bad results has left the club lying in 17th place in Serie A.
Parma lost 2-1 at home to Sampdoria on Sunday, a defeat that capped a poor run of form which has seen the club win just once since mid-December.
A statement on the club's official website, www.fcparma.com, read: "Parma announce that Domenico Di Carlo has today been relieved of his role as first team coach."
Di Carlo had been in charge of the club since the start of the current season, during which time his record in the league stood at five wins, 10 draws and 12 defeats.
The Parma job was his first in charge of a Serie A club.
His replacement is not yet known, although Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport says an announcement will be made on Tuesday morning at the latest, with Alberto Zaccheroni, Gianni Di Biasi, Nevio Scala and Zdenek Zeman among the early favourites to take up the post.
After the game on Sunday Di Carlo told reporters: "This is a difficult moment. We need to stay united."
