EXCLUSIVE: A year after Dick Advocaat reneged on a deal to coach the Socceroos, Football Federation Australia say they are more determined than ever to win financial compensation.
It's understood the FFA will continue to "pursue all available options", as one insider put it, to gain financial compensation from the Russian club Zenit St Petersburg.
Advocaat reneged on his agreement to guide the Socceroos through the 2010 World Cup campaign when he re-signed with Zenit at the end of last year just days after winning the Russian title.
A few weeks ago, FIFA released a statement saying, 'FIFA notified the relevant parties on 14 November 2008 that due to a clear arbitration clause contained in the contract between Dick Advocaat and the Australian Football Federation, the FIFA Players Status Committee did not have jurisdiction to act on this case.'
However, FFA have long claimed they possess a contract with Advocaat's signature and with the Aussie governing body steeled for a fight that could reap up to $5m in compensation, a visit to the Court of Arbitration in Sport has not been ruled out.
