Kresinger became a cult figure at the Wanderers after the Croatian striker scored just two goals all season and his release is unlikely to shock many.

However Tarek Elrich started last season as the face of the club and was widely tipped to skipper the side but soon fell out of favour and made only a number of cameo appearances.

The biggest surprises are perhaps Joey Gibbs and Rocky Visconte who were both youngsters with apparent potential.

Today though Wanderers executive chairman Lyall Gorman praised the players' contributions.

“The inaugural season for Western Sydney Wanderers has been an amazing journey for the players, coaching staff, club, partners and fans," he said.

"Dino, Tarek, Joey and Rocky were all part of this journey and all played an integral part in the success of the club and winning the Premiers Plate in this historic season.

"It’s unfortunate that we are unable to retain all of the squad.

"The Wanderers' door will always be open to Dino, Tarek, Rocky and Joey and no one should ever underestimate their contribution to this, our foundation season.

"We wish them well in their future football endeavours".
