In one of the finest advertisements for the A-League in recent memory, there was still room for controversy.
Marco Kurz came out swinging after the 5-4 penalty shootout loss to Perth Glory (following a 3-3 draw after extra time) due to the lack of a coin toss to decide which end the penalties would be held at.
The match officials allegedly chose the Perth Glory active supporter end without the usual selection process, leading Kurz to brand the decision "disgusting".
Marco Kurz says it’s “disgusting” that an FFA official decided to ignore a coin toss and chose to have penalties in front of The Shed before his captain made a call. Wants to know if tradition for penalties is different in Australia. #PERvADL pic.twitter.com/yHlZ8hEedI

Paul Izzo also hit-out at the decision, after a tense finish to the shootout featuring five consecutive saved spot-kicks.
