EXCLUSIVE: Newly capped Socceroo Bruce Djite is still “undecided” about his club future as speculation increases that he'll leave Hindmarsh next season for a lucrative overseas offer.
Quizzed on where he'll be next A-League season, the Adelaide United striker told au.fourfourtwo.com: “I'm undecided. I'd love to be overseas, there's a lot of very serious interest at the moment.
"But I'm not getting carried away because if I stop playing well at Adelaide, the interest goes away.”
That interest has been fueled by an impressive Asian Champions League campaign this month which featured a goal in match day one against Pohang Steelers in South Korea.
What's more, Djite's asking price would've increased after the forward, who turns 21 today, made his full national team debut last Saturday night in the Socceroo friendly against Singapore.
“It's important I keep my feet on the ground, keep working hard and hopefully that serious interest turns into a serious contract offer. Till then, we're going to keep working hard," he added.
With Scott McDonald's injury, the door appears to have been opened a little wider for Djite to earn his second Socceroo cap on Wednesday in the vital World Cup qualifier against China in Kunming (which fans can see on the big screen at FourFourTwo live at Sydney's Star City Casino).
Meanwhile, Djite has been impressed by former boss John Kosmina's post-season transfer business. The Olyroo linchpin said the ex-Reds boss is just the man to corral their newly acquired stars into a cohesive unit.
“I think they've done an absolutely fantastic job. They are unbelievable players, all of them. Musialik, Bridge, Colosimo, Aloisi – I don't need to say anything, they all speak for themselves.
“Sydney have the coach to control all those egos. He can sign as many fantastic players as he likes whereas with other teams too many egos may cause problems but I don't think that will be a problem for Sydney.”
So, is the reinvigorated Bling FC the early favourite for season four of the A-League? “I wouldn't call them favourites but they are definitely going to be dangerous,” added Djite.
