FORMER Wellington Phoenix defender Karl Dodd has joined Newcastle Jets in a bid to earn a contract with Gary van Egmond's outfit.
Dodd moved on from the New Zealand outfit recently and he will be given the chance to convince the Jets he would be a useful acquisition to their squad.
He told the Herald: "I've spoken to a few other clubs as well, but I'm just making sure I make the right decision this time.
"I want to be in an environment that is competitive and everyone wants to win. I just think they (Phoenix) are in an early phase as a club and just getting set up and still have players getting established."
Van Egmond has already hailed Dodd's communication and organisations skills but no deal has yet been agreed.
