The Reds have not made any moves to keep the 33-year-old Argentine playmaker, who was shocked when coach Guillermo Amor left him out of the squad for the club's Asian Champions League campaign.

Serbian Marinkovic is among a number of players coming off contract at Perth whom the club won't make decisions on until after the season has ended.

After being a regular starter for the Glory in previous years he has come off the bench almost as often as he has started this season and sources in Perth say he is frustrated at the reduction in game-time and might consider a change of clubs if the right opportunity arose.

"I find it strange Adelaide haven't been quick to re-sign Carrusca," Dodd said.

"I don't know if it's because they don't know who the coach is going to be and they want to leave certain positions clear or certain players off contract so a new coach can make a decision on them, but I still don't think there's any reason why they shouldn't have re-signed him.

"But if they want to look at other options and Marinkovic is a player who is off contract, then I believe they should look at someone like him.

"If you're going to lose players then you've got to bring in players of a similar calibre and Marinkovic would be a worthy replacement.

"That might be jumping the gun a bit, you never know what clubs, including Perth, are thinking in terms of their players, but I think it's a strange move by many A-League clubs these days to leave so many of their players uncontracted so late in the season."

Marinkovic's statistics for this season compare favourably with those of Perth's main man in attack, Diego Castro, when you consider their relative game-time.

Castro has started in 24 of his 25 appearances and played for 2047 minutes, scoring 12 goals and registering six assists.

Marinkovic has started 12 times and come off the bench in 11 other games and come up with six goals and three assists in his 1187 minutes.

Against Melbourne City in the final round, Marinkovic came off the bench in the 75th minute and with his first touch of the ball he slammed home a free kick from outside the box.

He has scored twice from free kicks and also powered home three goals from outside the box in general play this season.

"Carrusca and Marinkovic are both attacking players. They set plays up and bring other players into the game," Dodd said.

"There's no reason Adelaide shouldn't look at Marinkovic, if he's available. Clubs should always look at strengthening their squad if they can, regardless of who they have on their books."
