FRANCE coach Raymond Domenech believes Tuesday night's 1-0 friendly victory over Colombia was the perfect preparation for Euro 2008.
Les Blues won courtesy of Franck Ribery's 22nd-minute penalty after Thierry Henry - making his 100th appearance for France - was fouled by Cristian Zapata.
"This game was not easy but the Euros will not be easy," said Domenech. "All the matches will be of this intensity.
"Throughout our preparation we have created chances against teams that know how to defend well and this can only improve our chances of success."
France used two different formations during the game - a 4-4-2 diamond formation in the first half and a 4-5-1 in the second - but Domenech gave little indication which would employed in Austria and Switzerland.
"The two systems have their strong points and weak points," he said. "The first (diamond) allows us to have more potential in attacking areas while the second one allows us to defend a little deeper.
"It is essential that the team is able to adapt itself, to modify a system without negative consequence."
With veteran midfielder Patrick Vieira a doubt for the tournament, Domenech was relieved his players all came through the game unscathed.
Defenders William Gallas and Willy Sagnol were short on match fitness and the coach was pleased with their progress.
"The objective for them today was to play an entire game and they got through 90 minutes without any concerns," he added.
Striker Henry described winning his 100th cap as "beautiful" but warned France need to improve on putting away their chances.
"It was beautiful," said Henry, referring to his landmark achievement.
"We won, we prepared for the Euros in the best possible manner with a victory and our passing improved. But we could have had more killer instinct in front of goal."
However, team-mate William Gallas believes it is the defence which needs most attention despite them not conceding.
Les Bleus were lucky not to go a goal down early on when Juan Carlos Escobar hit a post following a mix-up between the Arsenal man and Sagnol.
"Although Colombia did not score, they gave us problems," said Gallas. "We need to communicate better in defence and the whole group needs to defend together. We did not do this well tonight."
