Roar have a busy turn-around with an Asian Champions League game in Thailand against Muangthong United on Wednesday, which Donachie believes is an advantage for Victory.

Donachie is good friends with Roar man Jack Hingert, who missed out on last week’s win over Western Sydney Wanderers with a cheekbone injury, but revealed cheeky messages have already been exchanged with the football friends.

The 23-year-old defender was involved in Brisbane’s 2014 A-League title coming on in the 90th minute for now Melbourne City midfielder Luke Brattan.

He said the feeling will be sweet if he got a win over his former club.

“Definitely a bit of banter flying around with football friends, it started as soon as they won their final,” Donachie said.

“I think I’ve had more to do with Melbourne, I came on as a right-back for the last one we won in Brisbane.

"If I can do it as a player who’s played a lot of games this season, I think I’ll hold it above that feeling if we get there.

“It is what it is, I’m happy here, I think it was a good move for me and if I can do them over in this final, I’ll probably be one of the happiest players on the park.”

Donachie hailed former teammate Thomas Broich ahead of the semi-final clash against Brisbane Roar.

Broich confirmed last week he would be leaving Roar at the end of the season after not being guaranteed a new deal.

Donachie, a Queenslander, played along Broich in his whole time at Roar and spoke of his consistency since arriving in the A-League in 2010.

He also said you needed to have a face-to-face meeting with him as he isn’t advanced with his technology and nor does he use social media.

“He’s a top guy, you have to meet him to understand because he doesn’t own an iPhone, he’s still got a Nokia,” Donachie joked.

“He’s one of these guys that will sit down with anybody and have a talk to you about football and life.

“He’s been consistent for a number of years, I think Bes (Besart Berisha) is the one that comes close to him in terms of consistency over games, I’m not sure if he’s going to play on or what he wants to do but he’s definitely up there with the best.

“For me I’ve got to go out there and win the football match and that’s what I’m going to think about come Sunday.”
