RIO DE JANEIRO, March 7 (National Team) - Roma goalkeeper Alexander Doni is hoping his good performances at club level will be enough to convince Brazil coach Dunga to give him a chance in the international arena.
The 27-year-old, who has established himself in the Roma first team this season, has confirmed he wants to play for the South Americans rather than Italy, and believes a call-up could be just around the corner.
"I dream about the national team, because Dunga has been giving possibilities to several players," Doni told Brazilian radio station Jovem Pan.
"As I am playing quite well here at Roma, maybe I will get a chance."
Dunga is expected to name his squad on Thursday to face Chile and Ghana in two international friendlies on March 24 and 28, both in Sweden.
Doni has been tipped in various quarters of the Italian press to be handed an Italy call, but the stopper has dismissed that idea.
"I don't want to play for Italy at all. I only want Brazil," he said.
"Each player must defend his own country."
