Bresh came within hours of a move to Manchester City before the start of last season until transfer talks broke down over City's planned payment in instalments.

He ended up staying with Serie A side Palermo but was out of favour and out of form and relegated to a bit part role with the club.

Now his club has said he can leave for $10 million and a string of clubs are said to be lining up bids including City, Fulham and Roma.

They are led by Blackburn Rovers who sent their scouts to watch him play against Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend.

But Bresciano is refusing to get sucked into the hype this time round - and told his agent not to bother him unless there's a firm offer.

The 28-year-old said: "I will work and prepare myself like a Palermo player and I have asked my agent not to call me unless there is a concrete approach.

"I want to stay as focused as possible, but if things have to change then I’ll evaluate them as they happen.

"I don’t want to repeat last season. I’m concentrated on Palermo and I will be happy to stay."

He may still stay with the Rosanero next season - new coach Stefano Colantuono has been so impressed with his pre-season performances he has said they may reconsider their decision to let him go, although a change of heart now seems unlikely.

And Bresc added: "One day I would like to play in England because that has always been one of my desires."
