AUSTRALIAN defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff has been ruled out of Shrewsbury's dream Carling Cup trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal tonight.
The 28-year-old central defender, who was part of an Australian camp in Germany in March, injured his hamstring early in Saturday's win over Port Vale and had to be replaced after 20 minutes.
Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner admitted early this week that Cansdell-Sherriff's hopes of being fit for the Arsenal clash were “practically nil” with the Aussie expected to be out for two weeks.
The injury is a blow for Cansdell-Sherriff who has spent the past five seasons playing in England's lower divisions after previous spells with Danish club AGF Aarhus and English outfit Leeds United.
Meanwhile Patrick Kisnorbo's red card in Leeds' 2-1 win over Bristol City on Saturday has ruled him out of Tuesday's big clash with rivals Manchester United in the Carling Cup due to suspension.
In January last year, Kisnorbo was man-of-the-match when Leeds shocked the Red Devils 1-0 at Old Trafford in the third round of the FA Cup.
