Oar joins on a two year deal from APOEL FC in Cyprus while McCormack is on a one year loan deal from his Championship side, following his successful loan spell with Melbourne City last season.

The move marks Oar’s third stint in the Hyundai A-League after representing FC Utrecht and Ipswich Town between his two campaigns with Brisbane Roar.

The 26-year-old speedster has appeared 28 times for the Socceroos including in the 2014 World Cup and 2015 Asian Cup but has since struggled to break back into the side..

Oar’s experience in Europe includes a UEFA Europa League appearance for Utrecht against Liverpool at Anfield and a UEFA Champions League appearance for APOEL against SK Slavia Prague.

Oar said coach Mike Mulvey had been key to his decision to join the Mariners as well as the club's passionate supporter base.

“The Central Coast Mariners are a great club, I’m honoured,” Oar said. “I’m really grateful to be given this opportunity by the Mariners and I can’t wait to get stuck in.

“I’ve got plenty of history with Mike Mulvey. As a 15-year-old I was involved in the Queensland Academy of Sport where Mike was my coach and I earned my first professional contract with Roar when he was my coach.

"He’s always been an influence in my career. We’ve stayed in touch quite regularly and he has been a mentor for me.

“Now the stars have aligned for me and I can’t wait to start working with Mike again. He’s the kind of coach that will show full belief in me – and get the best out of me."

He added: “There’s a huge wave of positivity around the club and I want to be a part of that.

"We need to keep that going through the season and we need the belief of our Members. We’ve got a strong squad of players, a great coach and we will do everything we can to bring pride back to this club and this community."

Mulvey said he was looking forward to reuniting with Oar on the Central Coast.

“Tommy Oar is a player I know well from a young age at the Queensland Academy of Sport and a player that I instill great belief in,” Mulvey said.

“He has had a very good career here and overseas. When I learned he might be available we moved fast. He is a perfect age to bring back to the A-League and he can play in a number of positions.

“Like Ross he will be a welcome addition to the squad.”

Meanwhile, as revealed by FTBL earlier this week, Scots striker Ross McCormack's move to Gosford has also been confirmed.

The Glasgow-born striker spoke about the desire to rediscover his love for football.

“I’m really excited to get back to Australia,” McCormack said. “The standard of football in Australia is a bit overlooked I think – everyone wants to play football the right way and I loved my time with Melbourne. When this chance came, I knew it was the right decision for me.

“When I arrived in Australia for the first time I wasn’t as fit as I would have liked, it was the first time I had moved overseas to be away from my family so coming in this time, I am in a better place and really believe that I will have an impact.

“I want to come to the Central Coast and belong, I really want to be a part of something. I want to work hard and put myself in the best position to help the team. That’s what will put a smile back on my face. The happier you are in football, it’s going to bring the best out in a player.

“We need to get the Mariners back up the table, where they belong. Where the Mariners finished last season will not be acceptable this season. We want to be finishing in the finals, give this season a real go and not take a backwards step against any team.

“I like to think I get along with everyone, I’m an easy going approachable guy who likes to have a joke. But most importantly I’m a hard worker who loves to win football matches. On the pitch, I put in as big of a shift as anyone to achieve that goal,” McCormack said.

Mulvey said he was thrilled to add McCormack his attacking arsenal ahead of the new season.

“One of our highest priorities this pre-season was to bring in a player who was a proven goal scorer,” Mulvey said. “In securing Ross McCormack, we have got just that.

“His track record throughout his career is very impressive. It’s a bonus that he is accustomed to the A-League and we are delighted that he has agreed to join the club. We look forward to welcoming him to the Central Coast,”
