The 34-year-old striker has been linked with a move away from the English Premier League giants for most of the season after losing his place in the starting line-up due a lack of form.

However, since Roberto Di Matteo took over from Andre Villas-Boas, Drogba has been key in the revival of Chelsea's season, scoring in both the club's FA Cup and Champions League final victories.

Despite calls for owner Roman Abramovich to hand him the two-year deal he desires, it appears Drogba is on his way out.

"We (he and his Chelsea team-mates) will not be together next season," Drogba told France Football.

"As I have decided to leave, I wanted to tell them to their faces. They made me break down. I found it hard to admit that it was finished with me and the club."

Drogba's recent performances have seen him again earn the plaudits, and it meant Fernando Torres started on the bench against Bayern Munich on Saturday.

But, despite the Spaniard complaining about watching most of the game from the sidelines, Drogba said Torres was likely to be given his chance soon.

"I don't envisage sitting on the bench watching others play at a time when the club is looking at putting together a new team," Drogba said.

"So there we go, I am readying myself for a great leap into the unknown. It will be another adventure."
