The three-time World Player of the Year joined the Sao Paulo giants in December and since returning to action in March has helped his new side to win the Campeonato Paulista and to reach the Copa do Brasil semi-finals.

The form of the 32-year-old has led to calls from fans and the media for his return to the national team but Dunga has decided not to include him in his squad for next month's World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay and the Confederations Cup.

"If we had called up Ronaldo, a lot of people would say we named him to prove he is still not in the right condition to play for the national team," said Dunga.

"We are focused on the players in the squad. We respect Ronaldo - [assistant coach] Jorginho and I played alongside him - but now I must think of the players here and Ronaldo would not feel comfortable if I called him up now.

"He wants to be called up when he is ready and producing for his team. In the meantime, we will name those players who are playing better."
