THEY came, they saw, they got thrashed 4-0 by Germany. The Socceroos may have failed as a team, but how did the players bear up individually? We rate them one by one - leave your own ratings below.

Starting XI:
Mark Schwarzer: 5 - Was left exposed time and time again by Australia's ageing defence and was not at fault for any of Germany's four goals. But his handling did not look as assured as usual but that was hardly surprising considering the constant pressure he was under.
Scott Chipperfield: 2 - The 34-year-old's international career should be ended after this performance in which he looked totally out of his depth at left-back and was found wanting constantly. Has been a great servant for the Socceroos but the younger David Carney now should be given his chance on the left side of defence.
Lucas Neill: 2 - Was at fault for Germany's opening goal as he kept continually playing the Germans on-side with his poor positioning. One of his worst ever games for the Socceroos.
Craig Moore: 5 - The best of Australia's defenders, although that is not saying much, but his 34-year-old legs were also found out by the super quick Germans.
Luke Wilkshire: 4 - Was constantly exposed at right-back as he pushed forward in a bid to give the Socceroos some pep in attack. Did not have much of a chance to threaten with his usual good delivery from set pieces either.
Jason Culina: 5 - Played out of position by Verbeek and struggled to have his usual impact but never stopped trying.
Tim Cahill: 3 - Had an early chance with a header that was blocked and after that became increasingly frustrated by playing as a lone striker. Capped off a disastrous night for Australia by getting sent off and will now miss the clash against Ghana.
Vince Grella: 3 - Barely sighted and was subbed off at half-time as Australia's midfield was overrun.
Carl Valeri: 4 - Surprise selection in the centre of midfield and was totally overwhelmed but was not the worst.
Brett Emerton: 7 - Easily Australia's best player and was the only player that looked capable of breaking open Germany's defence with his pace and energy down the right side of midfield. The fact that he performed so well despite coming into the match underdone, after not playing any of the lead-up games to a calf injury, only made his performance even more meritorious and his effort and commitment shamed the rest of his team-mates.
Richard Garcia: 6 - Had Australia's best chance of the game in the third minute after surprisingly winning a place in the starting line-up and at least looked dangerous and tried hard in the first half before eventually being subbed off in the 64th minute.
Subs:
Brett Holman: 5 - Came on at half-time and at least looked lively as he flashed a shot just wide in the 51st minute.
Nikita Rukavytsya: 4 - Surprisingly came on as a second half sub instead of Harry Kewell and wasted one chance but did little else.
Mile Jedinak: 3 - By the time he came on late in the second half Australia was already four down so faced an impossible task in midfield.
