Holland left it extremely late to beat Albania 1-0 away from home.
The Dutch dominated virtually the whole match, but had to wait until Ruud van Nistelrooy's strike in the very last minute to seal the win and move level on points with Euro 2008 Qualifying Group G leaders Romania.
The visitors started brightly with Wesley Sneijder and Van Nistelrooy just off target in the opening minutes.
But Albania also enjoyed their fair share of possession early on and Edmond Kapllani saw his header blocked on seven minutes.
Five minutes later, Robin van Persie sent a free-kick well wide and also had a shot blocked in his side's next attack.
The Arsenal forward was thwarted again on 19 minutes as the visitors began to dominate proceedings.
Three minutes later, Albania goalkeeper Arjan Beqaj did well to keep out Van Nistelrooy's powerful drive as the Dutch edged ever closer to an opening goal.
At the other end, Erjon Bogdani blasted wide from outside the area in a rare Albanian attack.
But the visitors were still on top and Sneijder saw his curling effort well saved by Beqaj on 25 minutes.
The Real Madrid midfielder threatened again a minute later, but this time saw his shot blocked by the Albanian rearguard.
Van Persie also saw his shot blocked on 43 minutes before Ryan Babel came close with a left-footed effort just before the interval.
After the break, Albania began with intent and Bogdani tested Edwin van der Sar with a fierce drive on 47 minutes.
The veteran goalkeeper was then forced into action again four minutes later to keep out Lorik Cana's close range effort.
But the Dutch continued to threaten and Sneijder was again at the centre of his side's best work.
The former Ajax star's volley was well saved by Beqaj on 54 minutes.
Substitute Rafael van der Vaart and full-back Mario Melchiot also came close to an elusive opening goal as the Dutch began to pile on the pressure.
Van Persie saw his goalbound effort saved on 62 minutes and Van Nistelrooy also had a shot blocked in the team's next foray forward.
A Dutch goal seemed imminent now, but Marco van Basten's side appeared to run out of ideas in the final quarter and the game looked to be heading for a draw.
However, with three minutes remaining, Albania went down to 10 men following the sending-off of Cana and this appeared to boost the Dutch.
The visitors poured forward once again and Giovanni van Bronckhorst's cross eventually fell to Van Nistelrooy, who blasted home from 12 yards.
