LEGENDARY great Dwight Yorke will make a long-awaited return to Sydney at the weekend...but just to say goodbye properly.
To see today's training session...
The former Manchester United and Trinidad striker was Sydney's marquee star for the first season of the A-League but made a swift exit at the start of season two when Sunderland lured him back to the English Premier League.
The transfer came so quickly fans were never given the chance to farewell him or thank him for taking the club to the inaugural Championship.
Now though he is set to be given the send-off he missed four years ago when returns as Sydney's guest of honour this weekend for the match against Brisbane Roar.
"It's always great to have Yorkey back in town, he obviously brings a lot of excitement to the city," said Sydney FC Captain and former team-mate Steve Corica.
Yorke is back in the Harbour City to promote his new autobiography, and Sydney management thought it was the perfect opportunity to allow fans to properly farewell the 37-year old.
Corica added: "I think it's very important for the fans.
"We (the players) got to say goodbye to him but the fans probably didn't so it's a good opportunity for them to do that this weekend. Hopefully there'll be a big crowd there on Sunday."
