Brazilian midfielder Emerson has been released by AC Milan, the club announced tonight.
The 33-year-old former Roma, Juventus and Real Madrid midfielder asked for the release, the club said in a statement.
"AC Milan announce that the footballer Ferreira Da Rosa Emerson has asked for and received an immediate release from the club, due to personal reasons," the statement said.
"We thank him for all he did during his time with the Rossoneri and Milan wish him the best in his future."
This was Emerson's second season with Milan since his move from Madrid. He made 39 appearances for the club.
