Allardyce has started Emerton in Rovers' past six Premier League matches since the Australian scored the winner as a substitute against Blackpool in late-September.

And the Rovers boss told Sky Sports he has not seen Emerton producing better football than right now, since taking over at the club in December 2008.

"For me this is the best Brett has played since I have been here," Allardyce said.

"Unfortunately a few games in (into Allardyce's tenure at Blackburn) he picked up the cruciate ligament injury and last season, while fit, psychologically he never seemed quite able to be his normal self.

"The work rate has always been there but the quality on the ball was never where it is now.

"He has been an outstanding individual for us in the last two games particularly.

"Ever since he came on at Blackpool he has put in the performances that we have been waiting and looking for.

"He has gone from strength to strength since that Blackpool game.

"It is always confidence led. Once things start going right for you and once passes start going right for you, like they are for him, it is a measure of the confidence of the player at the time."

Blackburn travel to Tottenham on Saturday in the English Premier League.
