Making his first appearance for his new club, the Sky Blues' marquee man had a solid 54-minute hit-out in front of 3577 fans who braved wet and miserable conditions.

Wearing the No.7 shirt and lining up at right midfield, Emerton worked hard off the ball in the opening minutes but had limited touches.

He was involved in a nice interchange with youngster Terry Antonis in the 14th minute and released Jamie Coyne behind the Glory defence moments later to put the visitors on notice.

The former Blackburn Rovers star should have opened his account in the 19th minute but somehow missed the target from point-blank range.

Nick Carle made his way into the penalty box and unleashed a powerful strike that was well saved by Danny Vukovic.

The deflection landed at Emerton's right boot but he was able to find an open goal from the edge of the six-yard box as Vukovic scrambled.

His attempt struck the post and fell to Carle who found the back of the net with his second attempt to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.

The Sky Blues almost doubled their lead on the half-hour when Emerton sent a dangerous cross into the box for Mark Bridge who was adjudged offside.

Perth levelled on 35 minutes when Brazilian Andrezinho darted around the back of the Sydney defence and found Billy Mehmet who produced a clinical finish.

Emerton put the hosts back in front with a well-taken penalty four minutes in after Jacob Burns fouled Mark Bridge in the box.

Vukovic went the right way but was no chance of stopping Emerton's powerful strike which thundered into the bottom left corner.

Todd Howarth equalised two minutes later when Sebastian Ryall failed to clear the ball from in front of goal.
