SYDNEY FC's Socceroo signing Brett Emerton will hit the park with his new teammates for the first time when he joins Sky Blues training on Monday at the Sydney Football Stadium.
Emerton joining in training is part of a huge week for the Sky Blues including the club's season launch on Wednesday September 21 and fan day on Saturday September 24.
Later on that Saturday, Emerton is expected to also make his first appearance in a Sky Blues shirt when the face Perth Glory in a pre-season friendly at WIN Jubilee Kogarah.
The 32-year-old Australia international joined Sydney FC from Blackburn Rovers on a marquee deal last month.
Emerton was in Sydney soon after to complete the formalities but will officially join his teammates for his first training session on Monday.
On Friday, Sky Blues skipper Terry McFlynn told AAP that Emerton's arrival was a big boost for the squad.
"There has been a real buzz about training with the arrival of some experienced players like Pascal, Megsy (Beauchamp), Karol (Kisel) and Jamie Coyne. It has helped drive the rest of us and freshen things up," he said.
"Brett Emerton coming in next week will also be another massive boost for the squad, not only on the pitch but in the dressing room and at training.
"There has been a good shift towards a positive attitude."
