The bulk of the Socceroos squad is made up of players who took part in the 2006 tournament and only Brazil boasts a group with a higher average age.
Some have questioned whether there are too many old heads and not enough young legs in Pim Verbeek's squad. Emerton rejects any such notion.
The average age in the squad is 28.4 with Verbeek's 'ideal' starting line-up coming in at 31.5 years.
"The majority is the same team from four years ago and we're like brothers, everyone gets on well together and I think that shows on the pitch as well," Brett Emerton told AAP.
"We work for one another. The main difference is the experience the players have gained in the past four years.
"We can get that to work to our advantage."
