Roma's hopes of finishing in the top three appeared all but over after back-to-back defeats by Atalanta and Lazio.

However, their 1-0 win over Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico, which came courtesy of a second-minute strike from Pablo Osvaldo, has moved them to within four points of third-placed Lazio.

"The important thing after the derby was to win all 12 remaining games," Luis Enrique told Sky Sports Italia.

"We have earned two wins and that is very important for us. The table tells us that we're sixth now and that is where we deserve to be.

"But there are still 10 rounds to go and we need to be confident. There have been games that I was very pleased with and from the start of the season, the team has improved so much."

However, Enrique admitted his side had not been at their best against Genoa, wasting several chances to score a second goal.

"Tonight we gave the ball away a lot," he said. "Osvaldo scored a nice goal, but we encountered great difficulty in keeping a hold of the ball.

"After the goal, we were a bit tentative. I think that tonight's result is good for our confidence but we have to up our game. Tonight Genoa could have earned a draw."

Roma must now travel to San Siro on Saturday to take on league leaders AC Milan.
