Hearts striker Edgaras Jankauskas faces a race against time to feature in the weekend's Edinburgh derby after having his passport stolen in Lithuania.
The 31-year-old forward was one of four Hearts players criticised by Lithuania coach Algimantas Liubinskas during their Euro 2008 qualifying double-header.
Liubinskas left out Jankauskas, Andrius Velicka, Marius Zaliukas and Saulius Mikoliunas for last Saturday's 1-0 defeat to France in Vilnius.
All four were then jettisoned completely from the national squad for the 1-0 loss in Ukraine on Wednesday, with Liubinskas branding the Hearts players "physically and mentally down".
Matters now appear to have got worse for injury-hit Jankauskas, who has started only nine times for Hearts in a disappointing campaign.
The former Porto player was robbed during his time in his homeland and is now anxiously awaiting a replacement passport to fly back in time for the televised meeting with city rivals Hibs at Easter Road.
Hearts already have huge selection worries for the match and news of Jankauskas' problems has caused further disruption ahead of facing the CIS Insurance Cup winners.
Assistant head coach Stephen Frail said: "Edgaras isn't back yet. I think he was robbed. He has lost all his money and his passport.
"He can't get out of the country because of his passport, so he's not returned.
"I hope he is now waiting on a replacement passport but it's not great for him. I don't know how long it will take.
"We need all the players, it's a massive game for us, whether or not Edgaras would have started the game or sat on the bench."
Frail also hit back at Liubinskas' comments in regard to the international quartet, by adding: "As far as we're concerned the players went there fit and healthy, apart from Zaliukas who they were aware of.
"Mikoliunas suffered an injury when he was actually there and Velicka was fit. "But I would have expected them to be away and down.
"You could have probably said that about all our players after the last game (4-0 home league defeat) against Dundee United. They were down, whether it be physically or psychologically.
"I'm quite sure Craig Gordon was hurting but we saw the two performances he put in for Scotland. It could have been the same for the four lads who were away with Lithuania."
Frail, who spoke with owner Vladimir Romanov at length during the club's two-game training break in Germany, wants an immediate response at Hibs to the United humbling.
Fans vented their anger during the poor Tynecastle defeat while Frail spoke post-match of the divisions in the dressing room as the club struggle to secure European football next term.
He said: "I hope we're closer together. Germany was great. It was great to get all the players together. We worked hard and it was a good trip.
"When you look at the last league game, we needed to get them together and become a tighter unit."
