Gomel secured a showdown with Liverpool on the back of their 2-1 aggregate success against FK Renova.
Scottish Premier League team St Johnstone were unable to overturn a 2-0 first-leg defeat and bowed out 3-1 on aggregate against Turkish side Eskisehirspor, who replaced Besiktas in the draw and despite losing 1-0 on the night to Skonto, Hajduk Split prevailed 2-1 on aggregate to book a date with Inter Milan.
In other results on Thursday, Sarajevo edged Levski Sofia 3-2 on aggregate, Anorthosis trounced Levadia 6-1 at the end of their two legs and MYPA were hammered 5-1 on aggregate by Rapid Bucharesti.
Gent overturned a 2-1 first-leg deficit to progress 4-2 on aggregate against Differdange 03 and Legia Warsaw disposed of Liepajas Metalurgs on aggregate.
