Baye Fall gave the visitors a shock lead after 11 minutes but Twente were ahead at half-time through two Denny Landzaat strikes. Fall hit his second after 62 minutes before Fer won it late on.

Their win took Twente to 10 points after four games, three ahead of second-placed Fulham, who also closed in on qualification as goals from Damien Duff, Steve Sidwell and an Andrew Johnson brace earned a 4-1 win over Wisla Krakow.

Belgian Pro League leaders Anderlecht also made sure of qualification for the next stage after extending their 100% record in Group L to four games with a 3-0 thrashing of Sturm Graz.

Ariel Jacobs' side were always in control with Guillaume Gillet giving them the half-time lead with his 23rd-minute strike, and Matias Suarez and Tom de Sutter adding to their tally after the break.
