Marco Rojas says he has unfinished business overseas, despite signing a two-year deal with Melbourne Victory.
The Kiwi international was on the outer at Stuttgart, and had no hesitation returning to his former A-League club when the opportunity arose.
But he told the Daily Football Show he still had aspirations to make his mark in Europe.
“I just have to take it one step at a time,” he said.
“I have to perform well while I’m here – both seasons that I’m signed for – and just see what happens from there.”
The 2012-13 Johnny Warren medallist wasted no time reminding fans of his quality, scoring in a 3-1 friendly win over Sydney FC last week.
The 24-year-old looked sharp despite joining his teammate’s late in pre-season.
“It’s not the greatest joining a new team so late into their pre-season,” he said.
“But I’m just going to put my head down, work hard, work with the other boys in the team to get a good chemistry so that by the time round one comes we’re firing on all cylinders."
Football fans will get to see Rojas again when he gets his first taste of FFA Cup action on September 27 against Bentleigh Greens.
“I think it’s a really good tournament to have,” he said. “It was probably something that was lacking in Australian football.
“To have this competition and for the A-League teams to be playing against the State League teams and for them to have the chance to get their games on Fox Sports and on TV it’s really cool.
“I’m looking forward to playing my first game in the FFA Cup and we’ll see how far we can go. Hopefully we can make it all the way.”
