Everton have cruised into the third round of the English League Cup with a 5-0 thumping of Leyton Orient, including four first-half goals.
Belgian winger Kevin Mirallas was the star for Everton with two goals, while Leon Osman, Victor Anichebe and Magaye Gueye also scored in the comfortable win.
Everton manager David Moyes selected a side without many regular starters, although not lacking in experience or talent.
The likes of Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and Phil Neville were involved from the first minute, while Mirallas was given his first start since joining Everton from Olympiakos in August.
The 24-year-old Belgian put Everton ahead in the 16th minute and just four minutes later Osman struck to make it 2-0.
Mirallas scored his second goal in the 29th minute and Anichebe piled on the misery for Leyton Orient 10 minutes before the break to give Everton a 4-0 lead at half-time.
With youngsters Luke Garbutt, Ross Barkley and Shane Duffy all coming off the bench at the break, Everton did slow down in the second half, with Gueye the only player to get on the scoresheet, hitting the back of the net after 66 minutes.
The win continues Everton's good start to the season with a third consecutive win in all competitions and sees them move into the third round of the League Cup.
