The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland midfielder joins the Toffees for an undisclosed fee after spending eight years at Manchester United.

In that time, Gibson, a product of the club's academy, made 60 appearances, scoring 10 goals. He has also represented the Republic of Ireland 17 times, scoring once.

Gibson is David Moyes' second signing of the January transfer following the two-month loan of Landon Donovan from LA Galaxy.

He is set to wear the number four shirt at Goodison Park.
