The Sky Blues won the Grand Final last season and kick off the new A-League campaign away at Adelaide United on Friday night.

Sydney FC have had a number of high-profile departures with 10 players leaving, Siem de Jong and Reza Ghoochannejhad returning to Europe, and Alex Brosque and Jop van der Linden both retiring.

But the club has been busy in the transfer market with the captures of Kosta Barbarouses from Victory, Alexander Baumjohann from the Wanderers and former Socceroo Ryan McGowan.

Now Le Fondre is confident the Sky Blues have the squad to win silverware again.

"I think we’ve recruited really well," he told FTBL.

"We lost a talisman in Brosquey when he retired, obviously Reza went back to APOEL, and Siem went back to Ajax as well, and Brillante went to Melbourne City too, and we lost a couple more.

"It was important for the club to respond and brought some star names to the club. I’m delighted as a player looking around the dressing room looking at the strength in depth we’ve got.

"We’ve got a really good squad and we can have an assault on all the trophies that up for grabs this season."

Le Fondre feels winning is part of Sydney FC's culture. The club has captured five trophies in the past three years.

"Just coming into team last season, I could tell coming into the dressing room we weren’t just there for a jolly up and just seeing how we were going," he said.

"Everything was structured towards winning and that was everything for Sydney – that was what I wanted to come and taste, be part of a culture. Once I experienced that, I relished it.

"That’s sort of bred into me that we are creating a winning culture, we need to cultivating that to keep winning more trophies and playing good football in the A-League."

The Englishman was a hit in his debut A-League campaign, bagging 18 goals for Steve Corica's men.

"I’ve really enjoyed it," the striker said.

"Obviously we had great success as a club as well, which is great for me as that’s what I came over for. Runners up in the Cup, second in the league and winners in the GF is a pretty good season by all means. For Sydney that’s just a normal season for them.

"That’s been the norm for them. I was just happy to be part of that and contribute to towards as well."

Le Fondre is off-contract the Sky Blues at the end of this season. The 32-year-old has an option for another year with the club, and admits he is loving life in the Harbour City.

"I’m up at the end of this season but I’ve got an option for a third year," he said.

"Everything’s up in the air, football changes like the wind, but my family is pretty settled here. If that changes or something else changes then I’ve got to roll with that. But at the moment my kids love it here, my wife loves it here, I’m loving playing here.

"Long may that continue. All I want to do as a footballer is enjoy what I’m doing, score goals and win things, and enjoy the game. That’s all I can ask for and I’m doing that."
