Babalj, who has been without a club for some time after making just two appearances with Czech outfit Mlada Boleslav last season, joined ATK last week.

According to reports, the former Socceroo is replacing injured Argentinian Emilian Alfaro at the Indian club.

Babalj made his debut for ATK in an 0-0 draw with Goa City on Thursday.

The striker has had precious little first-team football since he left Melbourne Heart back in 2012 to join Red Star Belgrade.

The 26-year-old has returned twice to the A-League in the past five years, with Heart and then Adelaide United, as well as spells in Holland with AZ Alkmaar and PEC Zwolle.

An AIS graduate, Babalj earned two caps for Australian in 2012.
