The ex-Socceroo captain and former Rangers and Newcastle player beat testicular cancer in 2008.

That frightening experience is the inspiration behind this nude calendar project, which will raise funds for the Cancer Council of Queensland.

The former national team defender will act as figure head for a 2014 World Cup Nude Calendar.

The talent set to undress, from Moore’s Gold Coast Over-35s Soccer Association side, includes four players well into their 70s.

And Moore himself will be Mr June’ to coincide with the World Cup in Brazil.

Moore sees this as a perfect opportunity to raise funds fore Cancer Council Queensland.

'Guys don't really know what to look for and are embarrassed to visit their GP if they do find a lump,” Moore said.

“Our aim via this calendar is to turn the spotlight on men’s cancer issues and bring everything out into the open while at the same time raise much needed funds for Cancer Council Queensland and the invaluable work this organisation is doing to combat cancer.”

Organisers have assured 442 the project will be “tastefully done” with no full-on nudity; rather the pictures will feature strategically placed items in shot to hide the models manhood. 

Shooting begins in late September with the calendar being made available in mid-November – just in time for Christmas sales.
