EXCLUSIVE: Released Swansea City midfielder Tommy Butler has arrived in Australia and is set to train with Melbourne Victory as Jim Magilton looks to strengthen his A-League squad's playmaking options.
The 30-year-old - who has two caps for Ireland - was released by the EPL club in the January transfer window by mutual consent.
He had signed a one year contract in August last year despite being under an injury cloud, but never made an appearance for the club in the Premier League.
Butler began his career at Sunderland and went on to Hartlepool, Dunfermline and Darlington before joining the Welsh club in 2006.
With Brendan Rogers' side flying high in the EPL and injuries holding him back since mid-2010, Butler has arrived in Melbourne hoping to reignite his career.
