Clisby is a free agent after leaving Western Sydney last month.

FourFourTwo understands the Mariners are keen to secure the 26-year-old to strengthen their defence.

Clisby has had spells at Perth Glory, Melbourne City and the Wanderers after debuting in the A-League in 2013.

Able to play in the centre of defence, as well as at left back, he made 12 appearances and scored one goal for Western Sydney this season.

Central Coast has already begun a cleanout of its squad with Josh Rose, Storm Roux, Tom Glover, Jacob Poscoliero, Liam Rose, Josh Bingham, Blake Powell and Peter Skapetis all departing.

At this stage the Mariners have only 14 contracted players for the 2018/2019 campaign.

Clisby could prove a handy replacement for the retired Rose at left back.
