Kewell's mooted move to Bolton Wanderers dismissed.
Sources close to Socceroo star Harry Kewell have slammed speculation the winger is on his way out of Anfield and headed for Bolton Wanderers. And they say he wasn't dropped from his comeback match with Liverpool reserves midweek, as was reported.
According to UK press reports, Sam Allardyce sees Kewell as a vital piece in achieving his goal of getting into Europe. However, sources close to Kewell have told www.au.fourfourtwo.com that talk of a move to Big Sam's Reebok Stadium was “nonsense”.
Reports that Kewell was “dropped” by Liverpool reserves midweek in favour of younger players ahead of an FA Youth Cup final were also dismissed.
According to sources, the medical staff at Liverpool have the final say on Kewell and “thought it was better for him to continue to train with the first team” as they prepared for their midweek Champions League game with Jason Culina’s PSV Eindhoven.
Kewell is tipped to play a major role for the Socceroos at the Asian Cup in July and could even play for the national team against Uruguay and Argentina in two scheduled friendlies in early June in Australia.
Liverpool is away to Manchester City tomorrow (Saturday) in the Premiership.
