SPAIN midfielder Cesc Fabregas is a serious doubt for their Euro 2012 opener against Italy, according to a report.
The 25-year-old playmaker is currently nursing a thigh injury sustained in Barcelona's 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final.
Spain's medical staff have declared that Fabregas' recovery is going as planned, but doubts remain about his availability for the match against Italy on June 10.
The former Arsenal talent is still doing light work in the gym and is not expected to resume training with the rest of the team before Wednesday at the earliest, according to AS.
After the match against Italy, Spain will take on Republic of Ireland on June 14 and Croatia four days later.
