To see Sydney's final training session before they meet Everton...

The current A-League ad campaign focuses on the elaborate fan celebrations and active support for clubs in the competition.

But the FFA's message is lost on officials at the former Sydney Olympics stadium who have wrapped supporters in red tape if they want to fly Sydney's colours at the Everton exhibition match.

All megaphones have been banned, only RECTANGULAR drums smaller than 60cm by 30cm (or circular drums smaller than 30cm) are allowed - but the drummers are not allowed drumsticks.

Banners are allowed in just two aisles for each of the Sydney and Everton fans, but they're not allowed to be mounted on poles - and they have to be registered with stadium authorities in advance.

Stadium bosses insist the ban is to comply with public liability issues but other stadiums around the country allow them.

The FFA's current ad campaign apparently encourage the noisy vibrant atmosphere created by the active supporters with their flags, banners and drums.

ANZ Stadium is also bidding to woo Sydney Rovers to use the 80,000-seater venue as their home base when the club joins the A-League as the competition's 12th side next season.

However the sterile atmosphere ANZ Stadium bosses want may weigh heavily against the venue in Rovers' decision-making.

The rules in detail are:

Oversized Flags and Banners

  • Oversized banners and flags are restricted to the following team supporter areas:
Sydney FC Supporters' Area - access is restricted to patrons seated at aisles 118 to 120. These patrons can pre-register their flags and banners by contacting the Sydney FC Cove Supporters' Group.
Everton Supporters' Area - Aisle 140 to 142 - patrons seated in these aisles wishing to pre-register their flags and banners should contact the Everton Supporters' Group Australia for further information.
  • Drums are allowed but no biggger than 60cm and 30cm width
  • No sticks
  • No megaphones
  • No metal flag poles...
