Players, fans and pundits have taken to social media to condemn the idea of playing music during A-League games.
It was reported on Sunday that the FFA would be trialling a range of new entertainment in the first month of the season to attract more fans and families to games.
Controlled flares, fan-zones and music during goal kicks will be trialled as A-League head Greg O’Rourke made the comparison to Big Bash League’s entertainment on show.
Music during play has not gone down well with fans however, with many taking to social media to vent their frustrations.
This music idea from the FFA seems to be going down well with the twittersphere 🤦🏼♂️

Imagine actually believing there are people out there that think “what’s holding me back from attending the A-League is music at corners”.

Music during goal kicks and corners: @FFA have gotta be kidding! Why are we obsessed with making the @ALeague an absolute joke!!!
— Philip Micallef (@MicallefPhilip) September 16, 2018
Ummm. No. No. No. music for corners, subs and controlled smoke? How about getting AL structure sorted first then let football and the real fans do the talking. Want to call me negative and a dinosaur then go for it.

Hey @ALeague @FFA I hope you're just floating this music during goal kicks & corners for a bit of publicity. Surely you're not so disconnected from football fans to be serious about this shit........... surely you're taking the piss

FFA: FLARES now we have your attention

FFA : music at goal kicks and corners introduced for 2018/19
Music @ goal kicks, corners & substitutions? What a shocking idea @FFA @ALeague!!! What fans really want is a sideline announcer clapping his hands shouting 'de-fence' everytime the home team loses the ball. And a shot clock of course! #gonnabebestseasonevaaa!

Finally, the Australian A-League will be taken seriously when they bring in music for goal kicks, corners and subs this season. #aleague #ffa

I'd love to know what fans the FFA supposedly speaks to in the off-season that say they want music at games during stoppages

@FFA on what planet will music being played at corners and goal kicks attract more people to games? Stop ruining our game.
— Troy Vincent (@_troyvincent) September 16, 2018
Fans that already feel ignored and taken for granted by the powers that be were always going to be suspicious of new outreach and moves toward a return to active support.

This poorly conceived music idea casts suspicion on the sincerity of the other measures through association

When @FFA had their round table meeting and the agenda of bringing in new fans came up, who ever said that's a great idea to "let's play music at goal kicks and corners" needs to be sacked immediately.
