Reid was quoted last week as saying an agreement had been reached to end his one-year spell in Thailand to allow the former Sunderland and Manchester City boss to join Tony Pulis' management team at the Britannia Stadium.

But following a meeting in Manchester on Saturday, which was also attended by Barclays Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards who initially introduced the pair, Worawi confirmed Reid will be in charge for November's Asian Cup qualifiers against Singapore.

"Everything has become clear. We have reached a conclusion that Reid will remain as Thailand's coach. He is likely to return to Thailand this week," Worawi said in the Bangkok Post.

"He did not sign a contract with Stoke. He just helped his friend. He cannot go anywhere at the moment because he is still under contract with the FAT."

Reid, 53, signed a four-year contract last September, although he has always openly admitted he would return to England for the right offer.
